3 programs to make our accounts in Ubuntu

Money

Yesterday we were talking to you about a new version of GnuCash, a version that fixed many problems and included some functions. However, GnuCash is not the only program that exists to keep our accounts with our Ubuntu. There are many programs to do this, some free, others not free, others basic such as LibreOffice Calc and others more experienced like ERP programs, but today we are not going to talk about everyone but rather about three basic, free and accessible options for Ubuntu and its users.

The fact that these options are named does not mean that the rest of the applications will not be able to add numbers, only that they have greater support, are more used and therefore more tested than the rest of the applications, although we can always use LibreCalc again.

GnuCash

GnuCash

It is the most famous program that exists about accounting in Ubuntu. Although it still has a few bugs, GnuCash is a very simple and intuitive program, translated into several languages and currencies that will work quite well for the most novice users. Its installation is simple since it is in the official Ubuntu repositories and through the terminal or through the Software Center we can install GnuCash. Well it is true that it has some limitations, but as I say, GnuCash is perfect for simple accounting and not for professional accounting.

kmymoney

kmymoney

KMyMoney is a financial program for KDE environments. It is an old but simple and quite complete program. For my taste the interface is a bit more complicated than GnuCash, but something that many KDE users will like. Its database is compatible with that of other programs so even we can import data from GnuCash or Excel, to mention more popular programs. Like the previous program, KMyMoney is in the official repositories and it is fully functional with other environments than KDE, although in those cases, the program will perform a little worse.

Buddi

Buddy Linux

Of the three programs we talked about, Buddi is the most complete program that exists, since it not only allows the import and export of data to other programs but also has a plugin section that will allow us to complete and adapt the program to our needs. Unlike the rest, Buddi is not in the official repositories so we will have to go to this link and download the deb package for installation. Once installed, both the configuration and the use is very intuitive, like GnuCash.

Conclusion on these account programs

There are very few days until the end of the year and with this many of us not only sign up for the gym but also try to keep our accounts and our financial aspect untouched so as not to have fiscal problems, but it seems that as in the case of the gym, this is somewhat utopian, although in the case of accounts it is easy to comply with these programs, don't you think?

I can recommend Money Manager EX. Without having tried the ones proposed in the note, I can say that Money Manager EX is very complete, it is in Spanish, it is easy to use and has a very well achieved interface. Besides, it is in constant development and has its app for Android.

There is also the Keme project, it is Spanish and I see it as very agile, easy to use and very practical for a professional Accounting.
