850 free brushes for GIMP

GIMP, free brushes

The user and artist of GIMP Vasco Alexander shared with the community a package of no less than 850 free brushes for the popular image editing and manipulation software.

The interesting thing about the brushes, all made by Alexander, lies in the fact that they are handmade brushes in acrylic, graphite and ink, digitized later with the help of a scanner. «All the images in the gallery were created by me. You can use this resource for whatever you want without any restriction ", says the artist on his blog.

If you want to download the package you can do it from this link.

It should be mentioned, of course, that the package contains only basic images that are intended to help other users create their own brushes. However, in the Vasco Alexander's blog the same brushes can be downloaded - albeit in smaller packages - ready to be used in GIMP.

The truth is that it is a quite impressive collection in which in addition to brushes there are also standards.

To install the brushes you just have to copy them to the GIMP folder, which in Linux is

$HOME/.gimp-2.8/brushes/

The package is distributed under a license CC BY 3.0.

More information - GIMP 2.8.8 available: installation on Ubuntu 13.10
