Canonical releases a minimal version of Ubuntu for the Cloud

Docker and Ubuntu Minimal

Canonical's interest has been in the Cloud and the server world for a year now. This is why the Ubuntu Touch and Unity market was abandoned. And a year later we are already obtaining results in these fields.

Recientemente Canonical has released a minimal version of Ubuntu for the Cloud. Offering this image for the main cloud service providers, thus offering the possibility of having Ubuntu as if it were a copy/paste. In addition to this version, Ubuntu Minimal will have a version for docker and for other types of containers, allowing you to install such an operating system on almost any cloud server. The resulting container occupies 29 megabytes, so it can even be run (not installed) from a smartphone or tablet.

Canonical ensures that the version of Ubuntu Minimal (or also known as Ubuntu Minimal) is fully functional and same as the full Ubuntu ISO image. This means that all packages, scripts and programs that we use in Ubuntu will work in this version.

So we can find Ubuntu in Amazon EC2 services, Google Cloud Engine or in LXD format. Being not only a means of promotion but also a sample of the power of Free Software.

Both Amazon and Google have opted for this image due to the results of loading and rebooting the system, Very low and ideal times for the server world.

But the positive thing about this news is that developers can use this image or container in local mode and then export all the code, application or program to the public server, in this case from Amazon or Google. The result will be positive for users and developers.

So it seems that a year's work is paying off, although I personally expected more, like a more optimized Ubuntu or some Ubuntu video game division within Canonical What do you think? What do you think of the new version of Ubuntu Minimal?

Good grief, how do you see the redirection of resources, which initially were eaten by projects, unfortunately, dead. Hopefully the trend is this.

It will take time to develop at the enterprise server level, but at the IoT level, impressive. I want him to go out to the Stock Market to see what happens. Historian's Morbillo xD
