AV Linux will also stop offering 32-bit support

av linux

How things change. Not so long ago, AV Linux only existed in 32-bit versions. Today we bring you a totally opposite news: AV Linux will stop offering support for 32-bit computers, which is also true that it is not surprising if we take into account what type of operating system we are talking about: this OS is a version intended for content creators, that is, for people who edit, above all, video or audio.

Right now, this operating system is based on Debian 9. We are talking about AV Linux 2019.4.10, already available, and it seems that it will be the last version that the team will launch with support for 32bits. To reassure users who still use a 32-bit computer, they assure that they will continue to support previous versions. V2019.4.10 is about a v2018.6.25 update and includes some updates and new features.

The next version of AV Linux will be based on Debian 10

The next version will be based on Debian 10 "Buster" (currently in development). The current one includes news and updated apps such as:

  • Mixbus Demo 5.2.191.
  • LSP Plugins 1.1.9.
  • LinVST 2.4.3.
  • Dragonfly Reverb Plugins 1.1.2.
  • KPP-Plugins 1.0 + GIT.
  • AviDemux 2.7.3.
  • New Numix Circle theme.
  • Fix for scripts responsible for removing VBox Guest Additions package to keep file /etc/rc.local as executable and enable automatic mounting of external drives.
  • Fixed the loss of "linvstconverttre" in LinVST.
  • Some rules have been removed udev obsolete and redundant build ArdourVST.

This release also prepares users for the new Cinelerra-GG by updating the repositories. The keys of the WineHQ and Spotify repositories have also been refreshed along with other third-party repositories such as the KXStudio app.

If you are interested in installing AV Linux on your computer, you have to download its images from its official website. If you do, I have a question for you: do you think AV Linux is better than Ubuntu Studio?
