In the next article we are going to take a look at BleachBit 4.0.0. This is the latest published version of this maintenance and cleaning program for our operating system, about which already a colleague spoke to us a while ago. When our team is filling up, thanks to BleachBit we can quickly free up disk space, we can also protect our privacy or free cache, delete cookies or erase Internet history. We can also destroy temporary files, delete records and discard garbage that we may not know was there.
This is a well known and used tool, since It usually reminds or equals in potential and form of use, such well-known tools as CCleaner for Windows. This open source program is designed for Gnu / Linux and Windows systems and it will allow us to clean thousands of applications, including Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and etc. Beyond simply deleting files, BleachBit includes advanced features such as shredding files to prevent their recovery or cleaning free disk space to hide traces of files deleted by other applications.
This new version also adds a Discord cleaner, in addition to improving Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera cleaners. The tool can also be used to delete location files (language) unused and thus free up more disk space.
For your user interface BleachBit 4.0.0 uses GTK + 3, which it changed to in October 2019, with header bars and support for dark and light themes. In this latest version of BleachBit, the application was updated to run on Python 3 instead of Python 2. This makes it work on modern Gnu / Linux distributions where Python 2 is no longer available.
There are also some Gnu / Linux specific improvements in this release. The application can now clear the cache of the dnf package (dnf autoremove), clearing the apt cache (apt autoremove) which now reports how much space was cleaned. There are also a couple of solutions for cleaning VLC on older Gnu / Linux distributions and one for pop-up notifications when cleaning is done.

- Python 3 support to improve compatibility with modern GNU / Linux distributions.
- This version of the program improves the responsiveness of the application window while cleaning.

BleachBit is available for Gnu / Linux and Windows. His download page offers binaries for Windows and Gnu / Linux. Yes OK no .DEB package for Ubuntu 20.04 yet, package intended for Ubuntu 19.04 DEB worked on my Ubuntu 20.04 desktop with no issues.
After downloading the .DEB package, We can install the downloaded package by typing in a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) the command:
