Software Boutique, a new application store for Ubuntu MATE

Boutique Software

Ubuntu MATE 17.10 development continues. Next to the future incorporation of MIR We have also learned of the arrival of a new application to this official flavor. An application that could be in any version of Ubuntu, even the official version of Ubuntu.

This new app is called Boutique Software. This application is a Software manager, like the Ubuntu Software Center but it has been completely rewritten which has allowed new functions to be added to this software manager. Software Boutique is a software manager that has content curation, this it means that will recommend applications based on which we have installed, which will recommend the best applications within each category according to opinions, downloads, etc ... And it will also collect various sources to install these applications. Among these sources is the official snap application repository. This means that the Ubuntu "store" is added new apps that are in snap format, so we will no longer have to use the terminal to install them.

An advanced application finder and a new look are other new aspects included in this new Ubuntu MATE application. But according to Martin Wimpress, one of the positive things about this is that Software Boutique it will be an external application to the official flavor itself, that is, it will not have any relationship with MATE and therefore it can be installed in any other Ubuntu-based distribution. Something that is very interesting because it allows Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu or Lubuntu users to enjoy this Software management application.

Personally I love Synaptic, a spartan tool that offers me what I need, but it is true that snap packages do not appear in this manager, so I may go to try Software Boutique and I imagine that I will not be the only one doing this Do not you think?
