Budgie-Remix, soon Ubuntu Budgie, launches first RC

Budgie Remix

Are there already enough official Ubuntu flavors? Budgie Remix think not, a version of the operating system developed by Canonical that aims to become an official flavor, at which point it would change its name to Ubuntu Budgie. Budgie-Remix uses the Budgie graphical environment, an environment created by the Solus Project, and has already released the first version Release Candidate (RC). The problem is that it will not have time to become an official Ubuntu flavor for version 16.04, which would allow it to be a Long Term Support which would offer patch and update support for 3-5 years.

If all goes as David Mohammed and his team hope, Ubuntu Budgie will be a reality in October, at which time the versions 16.10 of Ubuntu and all its official flavors. Mohammed is now preparing Budgie-Remix 16.04 (Xenial Xerus), a version that can already be tested and is available from THIS LINK. As always, we have to warn that it is not a final version, so if you decide to install it, you are likely to experience problems.

Ubuntu Budgie is just around the corner

Our Release Candidate for Budgie Remix has been released. We're getting ready for the 16.04 release - it looks good so far. It has been a dream to work for this distro. We never would have guessed that there would be thousands of testers until now.

Since beta 2, the developers have updated the Ubiquity graphical installer presentation, revised the installer options, focusing on applet clock on panel, removed budgie-xdfdashboard by default, added the dock plank by default and have set GNOME Calendar as the default calendar. Furthermore, the notifications pop-up has been made visible to the end user, the Plymouth home screen correctly displays the distribution name, and users can choose the Vertex theme from the Raven notification / customization center.

I have to admit that I like the UI of this new proposal, but I am anti-GNOME 3, so I think I will never install this version by default on any computer. And you?

Joeeee, I just got "married" to Ubuntu MATE. Wait for me to come back from the honeymoon to see what happens xD

      A greeting.

I have tested it on a USB and I like the design. The bad thing is that it does not allow me to change anything in the top bar nor does it allow me to put the window buttons on the left. But I'll keep that in mind for when it's Ubuntu Budgie.
