Canonical creates the Ubuntu One Account, unique and centralized

Ubuntu One account

It will serve to access each and every one of the services related to Canonical's distribution.

Ubuntu One account

Martin Albisetti has announced that Canonical will centralize the accounts of the Ubuntu service users in a single one, which will be known as Ubuntu One account.

Among the services that can be accessed with this unique account are all those that make use of Ubuntu Single Sign On, the cloud of Ubuntu One and the Ubuntu Pay payment system. In this way, the Ubuntu One Account will become the only account that users will need to have to access all the Online services, applications (Software Center) and content Ubuntu.

What changes and what doesn't

It is basically a brand change, so users will not experience any functional changes. The different Ubuntu services will keep their respective names and will continue to be free as long as it applies.

According to Albisetti, the rebrand responds to the need to differentiate Ubuntu, as a platform, from the services offered by Canonical. Ubuntu is the platform and Ubuntu One will be the collection of services that complement the experience of using the first.
