This is the case of the Dell Edge Gateway 3000, a family of Gateways manufactured by Dell and are powered by Ubuntu Snappy Core, the minimal flavor of Ubuntu.
This new family of Dell PCs is geared towards the IoT world, emphasizing offering mobile equipment that we can use in vehicles or in places where we have little space to have a traditional gateway. Thus, Dell has confirmed the launch of three models within the Dell Edge Gateway 3000 family.

The first of them is called Dell Edge Gateway 3001, a computer oriented to the industrial world. The equipment has a small size accompanied by several different types of ports that will allow us to make several connections to this equipment.
Dell Edge Gateway 3002 is a versatile computer oriented to the automotive and transportation world. That is why the equipment has small dimensions, both in space and weight. Unlike the previous model, the Dell Edge Gateway 3002 has sensors and a GPS that will help us to take advantage of certain conditions together with Ubuntu Snappy Core.
Dell Edge Gateway 3003 It is the latest model that has been launched in this family and is geared towards the IoT world in general. That is, to smart devices with screens or sound such as ATMs, vending machines, etc ... Devices that need video and sound output as well as a reduced size.
Both models have Ubuntu Snappy Core as the central operating system, which allows us to only use snap packages, with what this implies. They also have a relatively low price, about $ 399. But the most interesting thing is to know that snap packages will be more important than currently and that various devices such as servers or gateways will need this new package system, which in turn ensures the development of this type of package.
