Canonical releases new versions of Ubuntu kernel to fix various security flaws, none serious

Updated Ubuntu 20.04 kernel

As every so often, the previous time was last April 29, Canonical has updated the Ubuntu kernel in all versions still supported. At first, it published several security reports for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, so we thought it was a bug present in old versions, but recently they also updated and published a USN report talking about bugs present in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

In total, Canonical has released 4 USN reports: The USN-4363-1 He tells us about 4 security flaws present in Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 16.04, all of them of medium priority; the USN-4364-1 He tells us about 7 security flaws present in Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 14.04, six of them of medium priority and one of low priority; the USN-4367-1 He tells us about 3 security flaws present in Ubuntu 20.04, two of them of medium priority and one of low priority; and the USN-4368-1 He tells us about 8 security flaws present in Ubuntu 18.04, all of them of medium priority.

Update the Ubuntu kernel if you still have support

Canonical usually publishes their security reports when they have fixed the bugs you mention in them, which means all patches are available now in the form of an update from our software center or application Software update. Once installed we will have to restart the computer for the changes to take effect, something that will not be necessary if we use the LivePatch that is available in the LTS versions, such as Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Focal Fossa, the version released less than a month ago.

Although none of the failures are tagged as high priority, It is always worth having the equipment well updated to make sure that we do not have any security flaws, something that makes more sense when protecting ourselves from them is as simple as updating the packages with just one click and putting our user password .
