Today I propose a simple tutorial that will allow you to modify the icons of your LibreOffice, the office suite of the Free software par excellence (if this existed) and Ubuntu, therefore a program that I consider quite important in my day to day and in everyone's. The LibreOffice customization using its icons is the first tutorial in a series of tutorials that I plan to do on LibreOffice to put it so ready that it surpasses the well-known Microsoft Office, the private office suite par excellence.
Previous steps to change LibreOffice icons
To make the change, the first thing we have to do is choose the icon pack we want to install. The package of icons What am I going to use is called Crystal, but you can use icon pack that you want, as long as they are intended for LibreOffice.
Now to get Crystal icons what I have done is install it based on a script, taken from Artescritorio blog, to use it we just have to open the console and write
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-style-crystal -y && cd / tmp && wget https://github.com/hotice/myfiles/raw/master/images_flat.zip
sudo cp images_flat.zip /usr/share/libreoffice/share/config/images_crystal.zip
With this small script, what the system does is connect to the server where it is located icon pack, copy it and then take it to the / usr / share / libreoffice / share / config / folder where the icon packages that we want LibreOffice to use are located.
Change icons in LibreOffice
Whether we have saved the icons in our system for the script method or we have done it manually, now we only have to apply the selected configuration. For this we go to the menu Tools–> Options and in the window that opens choose the option VIEW.
There we will find at the height of our sight a drop-down menu that will allow us to choose the icon theme that we want to use, we mark the one we want to use and press the accept button. Now, as you have seen, you already have the new icon settings in LibreOffice, if on the contrary it has not been changed, check that the icon pack is suitable for LibreOffice - not all packages are suitable - and it is at the indicated address. In future posts we will try to further customize our LibreOffice and even incorporate a better dictionary for our spell checker.
