Claws Mail is updated adding native support for notifications in Unity

Claws Mail

Claws Mail has been updated to version 3.14.1 to include a number of changes, such as two new hidden tweaks found in the code by the names of «hide_timezone" Y "rewrite_first_from«. The first of these hidden settings will allow us to configure the time zone and date fields that will be sent by the network to an unknown time zone value specified in RFC 5322 §3.3, while the second is designed as a workaround for a limitation of multiple mail servers with «overly-liberal parsers«.

As we can read in the release notes, when this is enabled in the Content-Transfer-Encoding it is set to 8bit or 7bit. In a message body that begins with "From", that "From" will become "= 46rom" and the Content-Transfer-Encoding will become Quoted-Printable. When the option is disabled, no changes will be made, but an MTA will likely convert the "From" to "> From".

Claws Mail 3.14.1 arrives with updated plugins and improved GnuTLS support

ClawsMail 3.14.1 enforces the main Diffie-Hellman for systems using older versions of the GnuTLS library. The RSSyl, vCalendar, PDF Viewer and notifications plugins have been updated, which will also include new features, such as support for the Unity messaging menu, which will allow us to receive native system notifications from Claws Mail. On the other hand, 25 bugs that users found in version 3.14.0 have also been corrected.

Other new features included in Claws Mail 3.14.1 are:

  • Updated user manual for English, Spanish and 17 other languages.
  • Hiding messages and threads in the Drafts folder has been disabled by default.
  • New green icon indicates IMAP mailboxes showing only subscription folders.
  • Files can now be added to templates.
  • Message-ID will no longer be added to drafts.

If you want to try this email client, you just have to open a terminal and write:
