Clean your Ubuntu with Ubuntu Tweak

Clean your Ubuntu with Ubuntu Tweak

More and more users are using Ubuntu as the main system, which means that in a short time our systems start to slow down. This is due, among other things, to the fact that the system needs cleaning, something like cleaning the registry or freeing up space on our computer. This in Ubuntu is simpler than it seems. To do this we just have to do a simple installation of a known program and then run its cleaning feature.
This popular program is called Ubuntu Tweak that in the last versions has added a cleaner section that with a click on a button it will automatically clean the system.

How do we install Ubuntu Tweak?

To do this we just have to go to the Ubuntu Software Center and look for the Ubuntu Tweak package. We install it and after installation we will see how the program already works.

How do we clean the system?

Now we go to the "cleaner" tab and we will see the window divided into two parts. In the left part we will see the list of points that it will clean from the system. In this case we will mark everything unless we want to leave something that is not deleted, for example the old kernels. Once everything we want to clean is marked, we go to the lower right part of the window and press the "Clean" button, after which the system will begin to clean itself.

Conclusion

Ubuntu Tweak is a very complete tool and this facet of a system cleaner, although it is somewhat rudimentary, is very useful for newbies to the operating system and especially for those who come from Windows and are used to performing a periodic cleaning of the system. In Ubuntu you will not need that much but if you pass the cleaner at least once every six months, to be sure, better safe than sorry.

If you install from the binary that is on the website, does the website receive updates like those installed from the Software Center or Ubuntu repositories? Greetings.

Maybe I missed it when I did the installation, but I find that Ubuntu Tweak is not in the Software Center. I had to install it from the website.

The program is good, but I only use it once or twice a year, there is not much to clean.
