Clementine OS, the new Pear OS

Clementine O.S.

A few days ago we echoed the sale of Pear OS to an anonymous company. David Tavares himself announced the move on the distribution's official site, while removing the download links from pear os 8, the latest version of the Ubuntu-based distro flavored with Mac OS X.

Well, it seems that Pear OS has been reborn as Clementine O.S..

Clementine OS is a fork of Pear OS and no, it has nothing to do with the player Clementine; the only thing that both projects have in common is the name. Pear OS 8 installation images are provided on the Clementine OS official site, although Tavares has no connection with the project.

The first version of Clementine OS will be based on Ubuntu 14.04; For now, your manager has started accepting suggestions for artwork. The person in charge of the project is Brenden Gonzalez.

As of this writing the official Clementine OS site is offline due to excessive CPU usage. However, more information about the project can be consulted in its Google+ profile. Now it only remains to wait and see how the development full distribution, one whose direct competition is the increasingly established and popular elementary OS.

A midfield goal in my point of view, assuming they continue to use VALA and GTK + would be contributing to the Elementary OS ecosystem 😀
