How to change the text font in Gnome Shell

GNOMEShell 3.23.2

Although many use Unity, it is true that Ubuntu Gnome users are quite a few. Surely many of you have that perfect theme for Gnome Shell but that it is missing a detail such as a color or a text font that we want to change. In this case we are going to explain how to change the text font of any theme for Gnome Shell.

First of all, we have to have complementary software that together with Gedit helps us edit this feature. So, first we have to go to the Gnome Extensions website and install the User Theme extension or "User Theme Extension". Once we have installed this plugin for Gnome, we have to enable the view of hidden folders. This can be done simply by pressing the «Control + H» keys once we have Nautilus open.

Once we have this we have to find the file gnome-shell.css and edit it as administrator. We can do this first through Nautilus, looking for from this address / usr / share / themes. And once the folder and file of the theme that we use is located, we can open the terminal and write the following:

sudo gedit /usr/share/themes/"dirección del tema"/gnome-shell.css

Now, once the file is open, we have to go to the stage entrance. This entry refers to the core of the Gnome-Shell topic. Thus, something like this will appear

stage {
font-family: Ubuntu;
font-size: 9pt;
color: #5c616b; }

If we want to change the text font, we have to change «Font-Family»If we want to change the color of the font, we have to change «color» and if we want to change the size, we have to change «font-size».

In any case, once we have made the changes, we save them and close the file, then we close the session and reopen it so the changes will have already been applied.

The process is simple as you can see, but you have to be careful with only modifying that entry and nothing else because we can break the Gnome Shell theme and even momentarily render the desktop useless.
