In the next article we are going to take a look at Converseen. Among the different options that we can find in Ubuntu to work with images, we can choose to use this batch image converter and resizer. It has a simple and elegant user interface that can be translated into Spanish, which we will also find loaded with functions.
On many occasions we may need change the dimensions of a bunch of images or decrease their size. Through this desktop program we will be able to change image formats in large groups, organize, resize or compress them, if you prefer not to use the terminal for these tasks.
Converseen is a processor price quotation conversion for batch images. Is multi platform, being available for Gnu / Linux and Windows. Uses QT libraries and is based on the powerful free image manipulation library Imagemagick.
General characteristics of Converssen
- This program will allow us convert images to more than 100 formats. On the project website you can consult all the available formats. The conversion can be done on a single image or a group of them.
- We will have an option to change background color. If you use images with a transparent background, this software will give you the option of filling it with a color very easily.
- May compress images to use them on your web pages, with which we will save space when uploading them to the hosting.
- Another interesting option will be resize images. We will be able to change the size of one or more images at the same time. You will also be able to select a resampling filter to resize the images.
- With this program we will also be able to convert a PDF complete in a group of images. Although I have to say that I have not tried this option.
Among the available options, you will be able to rotate or flip images that you turn into Converseen. You can change the output directory of the images if you prefer.
- Optionally, you can rename images they become. We will also be able to rename a group of images using a progressive number or a prefix / suffix.
- We will have the possibility of extract an image from an icon file Windows (.ico).
- The program will allow us preview any of the images on which we want to work through a small window on the left panel of the interface.
Install Converseen on Ubuntu
As indicated in the project website, since Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty, this application is available through the official repositories. Thanks to this availability, you can easily install on Ubuntu / Linux Mint and derivatives by typing the following script in a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T):
sudo apt update; sudo apt-get install converseen
If you don't want to use the terminal, you will also be able to install this software from Ubuntu software utility. You just have to open it and search "talk".
Once located, you just have to click on the button "Install".
Choose the option you choose, after finishing the installation, you can now search for the launcher on your computer and start working with it.
Uninstall Converseen
To eliminate this program from our Ubuntu system, we can resort to the software option and uninstall it from there or open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and write in it:
sudo apt-get remove converseen
Converseen is a good option to use as bulk image converter. In the program we will be able to find the necessary options to be able to convert images efficiently and quickly, without having to use the terminal. It is a light application, very simple and intuitive when using it, but without ceasing to be practical and powerful.
