Discover LiVES, a powerful video editor for Ubuntu

live video editor

LiVES is a powerful video editor which is added to others available for Linux, free and open source, such as Cinelerra or Openshot. In addition, with the installation method that we are going to show you in this article, you will see that getting it for Ubuntu or any of its derivatives is very simple.

LiVES is, as we said before, a tool very powerful and very easy to use, and it also has capabilities that make it an ideal program for video jockeys. With LiVES you can combine effects rendered in real time, streams and multiple audio and video files, and from there export to more than 50 different formats.

It is a discharge that does not weigh much, but that contains quite a few advanced features. LiVES is, at heart, part editor and part tool for VJs, and furthermore its functionality can be increased by means of plugins open standard such as RFX.

One of the main characteristics of LiVES is that lets you start working with video from minute zero, without the user having to worry about the sizes of the frames, by the number of frames per second that make up an image, nor by the formats. The program will allow you to do whatever you want as long as its extensible capabilities allow it.

Regarding the audio formats with which you will be able to work in LiVES, the program supports mp3, ogg, mod, xm and wav. You can also export music tracks directly from a CD, and due to its orientation for VJs you have a multitude of options to process and work with the sound at your disposal.

As for the install LiVES it couldn't be easier. You already know the method more than enough: Add a PPA to the repositories, resynchronize them and install the package. To do this, open a terminal and run these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/apps
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lives

And in this simple way you can already have LiVES installed on your computer. If you dare to try it leave us a comment with your experience.
