PCSX2 is a project that started neither more nor less than 14 yearsas Playstation 2 emulator which had been out a couple of years ago at the time. During all this time they have been making all kinds of improvements, always focusing on the speed of execution of the games. As of 2007, notable advances in this regard have already been noted, and from that turning point the improvements have been in growing.
In this entry we will teach readers of Ubunlog The main features of this emulator and how can we install it in our Ubuntu. So if you are one of those who think that the PS2 has been one of Sony's best inventions in the world of consoles, this is your entry. We started.
If you are wondering what makes this emulator a solid and optimal emulator, then you can read its most notable features.
- possibility of save state of the game at any time with a simple click.
- Unlimited number of Memory Cards with "unlimited" memory too. Uff ... How many of us would have wished it had been like that on the original console ...
- Higher graphics definition. With PCSX2 we can run games in 1080p, in 4K, or in the resolution that we want up to a maximum of 4096 × 4096. Also, thanks to its antialiasing techniques, the games you emulate will look even better than the HD remakes themselves.
- Possibility of using any compatible controller with our PC (PS3, Xbox360…).
- Increase or decrease the speed of the game thanks to a built-in frame limiter. Basically you will be able to tell the emulator the maximum number of frames that are reproduced per second.
- possibility of record our games in Full HD thanks to the built-in recorder (pressing F12 having installed the GSdx plugin).
- Complex compilers for Emotion Engine (EE), Vector Unit 0 (VU0) y Vector Unit 1 (VU1). These compilers are used to compile some parts of the PS2 virtual machine in the machine language of our CPU.
- possibility of use up to 3 CPUs causing the speed of the emulator to noticeably increase.
- Full support for the Dual Shock 2 game-pad (PS2 controller), which makes possible the emulation of each and every one of its characteristics.
- Very dynamic system to create Cheats easily, which can also be used to bypass code where emulation doesn't work.
To install the emulator, we first have to add the corresponding repositories, update repositories and then proceed with the installation. We can do this by executing the following commands in the terminal:
In my childhood I could only enjoy the PS1 and the N64. But I will test the emulator on Xubuntu xD
Really? the BIOS download is done through an .exe file? How about moving the neurons a bit and uploading it yourself? They have been in this for years. Do not tell me that this article is copy / paste
Good evening, Enrique Brado.
The link was taken from another website, after searching in Google for a BIOS for the PS2 that would work for Ubuntu. The .exe that is being downloaded, as you can understand, is not what you want to download. To download the .zip directly you have to click on «Problems with the download? Please use this direct link. » When I have tried it, the .zip has been downloaded directly to me. Still, the mistake is mine for sharing that link and not the one that I uploaded to Mediafire. The entry has been updated with the new BIOS download link. You can download it directly from here. Sorry for the disturbances.
BIOS download is done through an .exe #malplan
You're right!! What happens to the writer of this article?
Good night, Alex.
The link was taken from another website, after searching in Google for a BIOS for the PS2 that would work for Ubuntu. The .exe that is being downloaded, as you can understand, is not what you want to download. To download the .zip directly you have to click on “Problems with the download? Please use this direct link. " When I have tried it, the .zip has been downloaded directly to me. Still, the mistake is mine for sharing that link and not the one that I uploaded to Mediafire. The entry has been updated with the new BIOS download link. You can download it directly from here. Sorry for the disturbances.
The idea was that, as I was not very clear if it was legal to share the PS2 BIOS, I left that "perfect" link that I found, in which the .exe was downloaded first but if you canceled that download, and clicked on the "Download again" button, the BIOS was downloaded directly through a ZIP. Thus, the BIOS was not passing you directly, but an ".exe". A reader has confirmed to me that it is illegal to share the BIOS, so I have been forced to remove the link from the entry. Again sorry for the inconvenience.
Needless to add that the emulator allows Hacking many games to be able to play them in widescreen
I would personally recommend that you remove the link from the bios and put the .exe.
The ps2 emulator is legal, sharing the bios is illegal and you can get a cigar, is my humble advice.
If you put the .exe it is not sharing a bios, you are sharing an .exe and there I drop it.
That was the idea. I knew that sharing the BIOS itself was not morally correct, that's why I looked for a link like the one I put in which, as standard, an .exe was downloaded, but if you canceled the download and clicked on the typical "download again" button », the .zip was downloaded directly. Some readers of Ubunlog Logically, they have not understood it and it occurred to me that perhaps it would be better to share the .zip directly. What I didn't know is that it is illegal. Thanks for the information and now I update the entry.
I get this error: in my ubuntu 1404
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnome-control-center: Depends: libcheese-gtk23 (> = 3.4.0) but it won't install

Surely, due to the architecture of your PC, you are missing libraries. Is your PC 64 or 32 bit?
What is the name of the screenlet that is on the screen?
It's called Conky. If you want to see how to install it and how to configure it as it appears in the screenshot, you can read the entry I wrote in which I explain it. -> HERE <- there is the entrance.
it is a 64 bit amd apu ...
I get this message:

What is the architecture of your PC? If your PC is 32-bit the solution may be to install this library:
sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-utopic:i386
