Eoan Ermine is the codename chosen for Ubuntu 19.10

Eoan Ermine

I have said it many times and I repeat it again: everything related to Ubuntu 19.10 is being unusual. In other versions, Mark Shuttleworth has announced a new release on or shortly after the day of the latest version's release, but this time we still don't hear from the CEO of Canonical. We did know that the animal's last name would be eoan, but because it had appeared on the Daily Live. Now we know that the full codename will be Eoan Ermine. In theory…

I say that that is the theory because at the time of this writing it has appeared on the website of the Daily Build of Ubuntu Kylin 19.10, as you can see in the screenshot that heads this article and check from this link. In the case of unofficial information and the version of Ubuntu that is developed in China, there could still be some surprise, but I am more inclined to think that in the next few hours the rest of the versions will change the word "EANIMAL" for "Ermine" in the your Daily Build website.

Eoan Ermine appears in the Ubuntu Kylin 19.10 Daily Build

While I have been writing this article, I have checked the rest of the pages of the Daily Build and Eoan Ermine several times keeps showing up only on Ubuntu Kylin. If I am not mistaken from what I have seen in recent weeks, the official Ubuntu Budgie account will soon publish something on Twitter, who were the first to publish the availability of the Disco Dingo beta and the first Eoan EANIMAL Daily Build. What we can also hope is that, finally, Shuttleworth appears announcing the Ubuntu family that will be released on October 17.

As for the news that the new version will bring, little or nothing is known. Ubuntu 19.10 is expected to arrive with GNOME 3.34, while the rest of the versions will arrive with updated versions of their respective graphical environments. Kubuntu would come with KDE Applications 19.04, unless they release KDE Applications 19.10 before the Freeze Feature, something that hasn't happened on Disco Dingo.

And what is an Ermine? From what we investigated in the past, Eoan seemed to mean something related to the East (the cardinal point), while Ermine is an ermine. To be honest, it may be because of the hours that they are, I did not remember that this animal was called that, but we have seen it in many movies and home videos because it is a "common" pet among animal lovers. Thus, the codename for Ubuntu 19.10 will be "Eastern Ermine."

All in all, if there are no bigger surprises, Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine will be released on October 17. What do you think of the name?
