Firefox 107 arrives with the performance data available on Linux

About every four weeks, although it hasn't always been like that, Mozilla just launched a new major update to your web browser. We must understand as "greater" that the numbering has been changed, but news as important as those that introduced a change of logo or design are not included. What can already be downloaded and installed on Firefox 107.

Although we give more importance to what we see or what we can use new, there are changes that are made under the hood, and these are notable improvements. For example, those tweaks that make a software work better and faster, and in Firefox 107 we will be able to view performance data on Linux and macOS, which joins Windows 11 and Apple Silicon. What's new in Firefox 107

  • Improved instance performance when IME and Microsoft Defender retrieve the URL of a focused document on Windows 22 version 2H11.
  • The power profile that displays performance data recorded from web browsers is now also supported on Linux and Macs with Intel CPUs, as well as Windows 11 and Apple Silicon.
  • Improvements in Firefox DevTools that make it easier to debug WebExtensions:
    • New webext argument to automatically open DevTools.
    • Facility to inspect popup windows (implemented by WebExtension) using DevTools.
    • Reload button in the DevTools toolbox to see the changes made to the source code.
  • Various bug fixes and new policies implemented.

Firefox 107 is available for download since this weekend, but its launch has not been official until a few moments ago. Interested users can now download the new version from the official website, and in the next few hours it will reach the official repositories of most Linux distributions. We remember that, by default, in Ubuntu it is as a snap package, but that there are alternatives, as we explained here.
