At the time, we published some of the news that came along with the new version, but Mozilla has already updated its news page and among them we have some that we had not published, such as that Enhanced Tracking Protection has been improved.

Another section in which the fox browser has improved is in how it blocks automatic playback videos. Below you have the complete and confirmed list of news from the latest installment of Firefox.

New features already confirmed in Firefox 69

  • Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) comes with new privacy protections:
    • The standard default setting for this feature blocks third-party cryptominers and tracking cookies.
    • The optional "Strict" setting locks fingerprinters at the same time as locked items in the standard setting.
  • The auto-lock feature has been enhanced to give users the ability to lock any video that plays automatically, not just those that play sound automatically.

  • Support for receiving multiple video codecs with this release makes it easy for WebRTC conferencing services to mix video from different clients.
  • Windows 10 UI improvements:
    • Firefox will give Windows suggestions to properly set the priority levels of the content process, which means more processor time spent on the tasks you are actively working on and less processor time spent on things in the background (with the exception video and audio playback).
    • Existing Windows 10 users can easily find and start Firefox from a shortcut on the Win10 taskbar.
  • MacOS version improvements:
    • MacOS users on machines with dual graphics cards (like MacBook Pro) will switch back to the low-power GPU more aggressively, saving battery life.

  • JIT support comes to ARM64 to improve the performance of the JavaScript optimization JIT compiler.
  • Various security fixes.
  • Removed Flash option "Always on".
  • Firefox no longer loads userChrome.css o userContent.css default. If we want to customize Firefox using these files we have to configure the preference toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets set to "true" to retrieve this possibility.

Firefox 69 is now available for Windows, macOS and Linux since Official Site. As we always say, what Linux users will download will be the binaries; the new version will arrive as an update to the different software centers in the next few hours.
