Firefox 70 beta launches "News" section with information that might interest us

What's New in Firefox 70 section

In a move that seems a bit strange to one server, the latest beta version of Firefox 70 has introduced a new section. When I say that it seems a bit strange to me it is because they have added the function directly to the beta version of Firefox, skipping the Nightly that already goes through the v71 of the fox browser. On the other hand, Mozilla warns that much of what appears in the Nightly version may not appear in the final version, so it should not be too surprising that there are functions that go directly to the beta.

The section appeared yesterday (at least that's when I saw it) by clicking on the three lines or "hamburger." So far, under "Web Developer" appears "Help", where we can see the version of Firefox we have and update if we use a binary version of the browser. In the Firefox 70 beta, a new section with the name «News» and the icon of what appears to be a gift.

"What's New" appears in Firefox 70

Once we access the section, right now we see three sections:

  • News: To be more exact, right now there is only one, the one that tells us that Firefox has improved the ETP.
  • Protection report: in previous versions, to access this section we had to do it from "about: protections". From here we see how much Firefox has blocked, how we have configured the level of protection and there are shortcuts to Lockwise and Monitor.
  • Direct access to Lockwise: or what is the same, the page "about: logins". From here we access the new password section, from where we can also save new credentials.

Taking into account that this is a function introduced in the beta version of the browser and that it has only been available for a couple of days, we cannot offer much more information about the News section. That it has gone directly to the beta version makes us think that they will add it to the version of Firefox that will be launched on October 22, date that, in fact, appears at the top of the new section. It seems that this is a new section to facilitate access to certain functions / information. Well welcome.

UPDATED: "What's New" also appeared today in Firefox 71 (Nightly).
