Just like we advanced yesterday, Mozilla today made the launch of Firefox 72. The new version comes with important news but, as what is most often striking is what you see, one of the most prominent changes included in the v72 of the fox browser is that the Picture-in-Picture or PiP is enabled by default on Linux-based operating systems and on macOS. It was a bit surprising that Firefox 72.0 has come after Firefox 71.0, which means Mozilla didn't release a maintenance release for a whole month. What's new in Firefox 72
- Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) marks an important new milestone in the battle against cross-site tracking: it now blocks fingerprint scripts by default for all users, taking a new step in the fight for privacy.
- Firefox replaces annoying notification request pop-ups with a more pleasant experience, by default for all users. Pop-up windows no longer interrupt navigation, instead a speech bubble will appear in the address bar when interacting with the site.
- Picture-in-Picture or PiP is enabled by default on Linux and macOS. A floating button appears on the right in blue.
- Several security flaws have been fixed.
- Support for blocking images for individual domains has been removed due to poor user experience.
- Experimental support for using client certificates from the operating system certificate store can be enabled by setting the preference security.osclientcerts.autoload set to "true" (Windows only).
Firefox 72 is now available for all supported systems since official website. As always, remember that what Linux users will download from there will be a binary version that the best thing about it is that it is updated from the same application. The versions from the official repositories or your Snap package will be updated in the next few hours or days.
