Frameworks 5.64 arrives with more than 200 fixes and changes

Framework 5.64

Of the KDE software, without a doubt the most popular is its graphical environment. It is the one used by operating systems such as Kubuntu or KDE neon, but it is also available in other distributions such as Debian. On the other hand, they also develop a lot of other software, such as their applications (KDE Applications) and more than 70 add-on libraries for Qt, the latest version of which was released yesterday, Sunday, November 10. We are talking about KDE Framework 5.64.

As we can read in the release note and list of news, Frameworks 5.64 has arrived with more than 200 changes with the intention of improving the performance, reliability, stability and security of everything related to KDE software, changes that add to the 141 introduced in October. Until the new version reaches Discover, we will not be able to confirm if it solves a bug with the image that a server and many users are experiencing when waking up the computer after a suspension.

Frameworks 5.64 is coming "soon" to Discover

Among the most outstanding novelties that come along with this version we have:

  • Initial support for Qt 5.15.
  • Support for CMake 3.5.
  • Updated icons.
  • Fixes for various memory and crash issues.
  • Support for SAE (Simultaneous Authentication of Equals) authentication, which is a secure password-based authentication and password-authenticated key agreement method used by WPA3.
  • Support for Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa, the operating system that will arrive in April 2020.
  • Complete list of changes to this link.

As for when we can take advantage of the more than 200 changes introduced in this version of KDE Frameworks, we cannot say anything other than that will be coming "soon" to Discover on operating systems that have the KDE Backports repository added. We put it in quotes because, unlike the new versions of Plasma, Frameworks updates can take days or a few weeks to appear. In any case, the launch is already official.

Will there be any solution to connect a Google account with KMail? I have not been able to do it, it always gives me a warning that it 'has not been verified'.
