Just 24 hours ago, the GNOME project launched the GNOME 3.32 second beta so that any interested user can try the new features of this version. The previous version was released two weeks ago, but the new release includes still many more enhancements and refinements for one of the most popular graphical environments available on GNU / Linux systems. In fact, we remember that Canonical left Unity to return to the environment it used in its early versions, something that many of us were happy about.
Being a beta, we cannot install GNOME 3.32 from the official repositories of any operating system. If someone decides to install it, they have to know that they will have to compile the packages and that, if they do, they are likely to encounter problems that will have been fixed on the day of the official release of the final version. This release is scheduled for March 13, but if we want to download it by updating or from our favorite software center we will still have to wait a little longer. Hopefully a few days.
GNOME 3.32 available March 13
The next version will already be the RC, also known as release CandidateIf nothing happens, it will be available in about two weeks. This version, almost official, will have the name of GNOME 3.31.92 and from that version to the final release little or no changes are expected, only adding improvements or solutions to critical problems.
Among the extensive News list that includes GNOME 3.32 we find new versions from Epiphany, File Roller, Nautilus or Totem, the video player that is installed by default in Ubuntu and that I usually delete to install the VLC Snap. On the other hand, the icons of the Adwaita theme have also been updated. As in any other update, this new version includes bug fixes in many of the programs mentioned and others not mentioned in this article.
