GNOME 3.33.4 now available, prepares the beta version that will come to Ubuntu 19.10

GNOME 3.34

A server likes to talk more about Plasma, the graphical environment that you use in Kubuntu, but the KDE Community environment is not the only one that exists and this article is about GNOME. I think GNOME lost popularity when Canonical released the first Ubuntu with Unity, but I also think it got it back when they got back to their roots. That is why I think the GNOME 3.33.4 release it has a certain importance.

We are not talking about a major release, it is just a version that has not even reached beta, but it is the version that will precede GNOME 3.34, this one is in beta. GNOME 3.34 is the version that Ubuntu 19.10 will use Eoan Ermine when it is released on October 17, as long as there are no setbacks and its official launch occurs when it is scheduled, in September. Below you have the list of news that comes with this version (3.33.4).

Highlights of GNOME 3.33.4

  • Meson build system enhancements for EOG and other components.
  • GMD kills user sessions by stopping the screen manager.
  • GNOME Boxes has added 3D acceleration option to its properties dialog. They have also included support for VirtIO-GPU.
  • The calendar has a redesigned calendar management dialog.
  • GNOME Music has started a major rewrite of its code. They are also working on the charts, MPRIS and the ability to play songs without spaces.
  • Major improvements in GNOME Shell and Mutter.
  • GNOME Classic mode is now more classic by disabling GNOME 3 overview, style changes, and other modifications.
  • GTK + 3.24.10 is included with its support for the XDG-Output protocol and various fixes.

El code is now available from this link. Personally, I would not recommend its installation on production equipment, and even less considering that it has not even reached the beta phase. GNOME does not offer a special repository to install its graphical environment like KDE Community does for its Plasma, so I think the best way to test GNOME 3.34 is to wait for the official release or, in the case of Ubuntu, the release of Eoan Ermine.

hello, do you know if there is something that speeds up the operation of the Huion graphics tablets in Ubuntu? a few months ago I worked fine with the Huion H640p, but now the ubunto 19.04 gives me problems to draw, and cuts the line. Since I have not seen anything related on this site, that's why I leave my comment.
