Google unveiled at the GDC, Stadia, its cloud gaming service

Google Stadia

Now we know what future Google holds for video games. After having entertained the suspense for days, Google presented Stadia, its vision of the future of video games at the Game Developers Conference (GDC).

Stadia is a cloud streaming service that gives you instant access to video games on all types of devices, including PCs, Chromebooks, smartphones, tablets, and televisions.

So-called cloud gaming services are just beginning to emerge, but they are slowly becoming the future of video games and are putting pressure on large companies like Google and Microsoft to invest in their implementation and development.

The idea to promote these services is that instead of players spending on expensive gaming equipment, one could bet on data transmission which, when done correctly, does not require high-performance hardware as the calculations are managed in the cloud.

Therefore, we can play demanding games on acceptable equipment.

Could we say that Google announces the end of the game console?

Last week, In a teaser, Google previewed its idea of how it will present video games of the future in which many had given their opinions on the subject.

Having said that, The funny video shared by the company only showed a series of various areas of science fiction, fantasy and careers.

Looking at the teaser, one could tell that these different scenarios certainly corresponded to the theme of a game.

However in San Francisco, during the GDC, Google has enlightened everyone's minds by introducing Stadia, its new cloud gaming service.

Google Stadia, says Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google

It is a streaming platform for everyone, no matter what type of device you use. Stadia will deliver games available to the Google cloud from the Chrome, Chromecast, and Google Pixel browsers.

The Stadia pilot phase was launched by Google as Project Stream in October 2018 and ended in February this year.

This was a video game streaming service through the Google Chrome browser. In this cloud gaming service, Google had given a handful of people a chance to play an AAA game "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" developed by Ubisoft for free.

It should be noted that an AAA (Triple A) or Triple-A video game is a rating term used for video games with the highest promotion and development budgets or good ratings from professional critics.

Players and critics alike expect a AAA-rated title to be a high-quality game or one of the best-selling games of the year.

About Stadia

Stadia is compatible with most keyboards and standard input devices, but Google has added its own personal touch.

Besides the fact that you can play on any device, Google, to improve your gaming experience, has provided a joystick which will connect you to their game servers via Wi-fi to identify the game.

The screen the game started on also has audio sharing features and audio support.

In fact, in addition to the standard input range, the joystick also has two unique buttons. The first allows you to capture and share a game or save it to YouTube. The second is a Google Assistant button.

In addition to this, the controller, with the information on its screen, it will solve the latency problems and the movement of a game from one screen to another.

The other information they need to know is that Google intends to use YouTube to power its Stadia cloud gaming service.

Even with the capture and share feature on YouTube, you can still see an excerpt from a third-party creator game and you will see a "Play Now" button at the bottom.

This button will allow you to instantly start the game through Stadia.

For now, the official launch date is still unknown, but Google plans to launch Stadia later this year in countries like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and some other European countries.

Also, due to its launch, one of the first games will be Doom Eternal. The game will support 4K resolution, HDR and will run at 60fps.
