It is not yet the day, but preparations have already begun. Just like we commented last monday On April 27, Martin Wimpress and Lukasz Zemczak had published information related to the beginning of the development of Groovy gorilla, which is the codename of Ubuntu 20.10. We also knew that the Daily Builds would be available from April 30, a week after the official launch of Focal Fossa, but we can now download the two flavors.
To be more specific, we can already download the first Daily Builds from Lubuntu 20.10 and Ubuntu Budgie 20.10 from this y this other link respectively. Of course, we must bear in mind that the day marked on the calendar is tomorrow and what we will be downloading will be an ISO that is currently in the "Pending" channel, so it could still undergo changes before the launch tomorrow, Thursday.
Lubuntu 20.10 and Ubuntu Budgie 20.10 already have Groovy Gorilla Daily Build
As a media specialized in Ubuntu, we have decided to report this arrival just when it has become available, but we must contain our enthusiasm. What is available right now, although as you can see in the header image it is already offered as Groovy Gorilla, it is nothing more than a Focal Fossa on which they will introduce all the changes. In fact, although Linux 5.6 has been available for a long time, the version of Ubuntu whose development has just started still uses the same kernel as all the Ubuntu flavors since last Thursday.
Starting tomorrow, the rest of the flavors, which are the main version, Ubuntu MATE, Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Ubuntu Kylin (Ubuntu Studio does not usually launch Daily Builds) will offer the Daily Builds officially, but the first major changes will still take weeks to arrive. The beta will launch on October 1 and the final version will arrive on October 22.
