Few ago the announcement about the availability of the new version of the project heroes2 0.9.10, version in which some important changes have been made, of which it stands out that the SDL2 version now supports V-sync, among other changes.
For those unaware of Heroes of Might and Magic II, they should know what it is a turn-based tactical strategy game developed in 1996. The history of the title continues with the canonical ending of its predecessor, culminating in the victory of Lord Morglin Ironfist.
The game features two campaigns, one run by the opposition (which is canonical) and the other by royalty. The way the adventure progresses remains the same. The player must build a kingdom, continually improve it, obtain resources, train soldiers, and be prepared to stop an enemy attack. Likewise, the ultimate goal is still to find the opponent's castle and conquer it.

In this new version it is highlighted that SDL2 version now supports V-sync to eliminate flickering on some users' monitors.
Another novelty that stands out is the passability near sea objects, As well as when using the "Dimension Door" spell, now it is the same as in the original, in addition to that from that version you can choose the language of the game between English, German, French and Polish when starting fheroes2 with just one of these locations.
In addition to this, now it has the cability to play a mini-video on the campaign selection screen "The price of loyalty."
Also it is highlighted that a script was added to extract resources from the game of the DOSBOX version of Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and that also in the AI the problems with the obsession for the eddies and the inability to land were solved.
Of the other changes that stand out in this new version:
- Centered text in some interface windows.
- Fixed representation of the grid on the battlefield.
- Heroes are now displayed on the minimap (unlike the original).
- Fixed the logic of finding your way on the adventure map and calculating penalties for moving in open areas.
- Fixed more than 60 bugs from the latest version.
- Allow to change battle speed using mouse wheel
- Fix monster recruitment window position for multiple locations
- Fix logic for slow and haste spell AI use during battle
- Add random signal messages
- Fix the maximum volume of music and sound

How to install Heroes of Might and Magic II on Ubuntu and derivatives?
For those who are interested to be able to install this game on your system, must have at least a demo version of the game Heroes of Might and Magic II to be able to play it.
To do this, simply use one of the downloadable scripts offered to obtain the demo version of the original game.
So that for Linux an explicit installation of SDL is required and for this, just script / Linux according to the package of your operating system and execute the file.
