How to have Trello on our Ubuntu desktop

Trello has become a very popular and effective tool for improving people's productivity. This program is available for mobile platforms and for large proprietary platforms: macOS and Windows, but not for Gnu / Linux.

A developer named Daniel Chatfield has created an unofficial Trello client that we can use and install on Ubuntu free and easy. The application is not official but it works correctly and will allow us to run our profile and Trello data in Ubuntu without any problem.

To install this unofficial Trello client, we first have to go to developer's Github repository. In this repository we find the program for the three major computer platforms and the source code. We choose the Linux option and download it.

Now we unzip the file and we execute the file called «Trello» or we write in the terminal:

./Trello

We will see how it works and it will ask us for our account credentials. This will work every time we double click on the file or write in the terminal, but it is somewhat tedious. For this reason we are going to create a shortcut on the desktop and within the menu. A) Yes, we go to /.local/share/applications and we create a file called "trello.desktop". We edit this file and add the following text:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Trello Client
Exec=(lugar donde has descomprimido la carpeta de Trello)/Trello
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Icon=(lugar donde has descomprimido la carpeta de Trello)/resources/app/static/Icon.png

Then we copy this file and paste it on the Desktop. Now we will not only have a shortcut in the Ubuntu Menu but we will also find a shortcut of the application on the Desktop. Now we have to decide whether to bring the icon to a panel or directly use the Ubuntu menu. In any case, this unofficial client is quite interesting and practical for many users looking for productivity.

    Hello I am interested in intalr trello but being an unofficial client I am worried about installing something on my computer that may contain spy or something precious

    You can help me clarify doubts about this: it is possible that I have spy that is worth being distrustful but I am a little new on the subject
