In the next practical tutorial for more basic users, I'm going to teach you how to install in a simple way the web browser Google Chrome.
Although it may seem like a simple task, for more users novice or inexperienced on Linux operating systems, specifically on operating systems based on Debian, it can be a real ordeal.
On Linux distros like Debian o Linux Mint, we just have to download the .deb file from the official Google Chrome page, double click on it and the package installer Gdebi will do the rest after noting our Password.
This is the easiest way to install a program in Linux, but sometimes things get a bit complicated, as for example in the latest version of Ubuntu, 12 04 that does not come with the package installer Gdebi installed by default.
To install Google Chrome on Ubuntu 12 04 or in any distro that lacks its own package installer, we will proceed as follows:
We will get off the .deb file to install from the same address as before, the only thing that we will agree to install it through the terminal of our Linux.
Assuming we have the file in the folder downloads we will use the following commands to access it:
- cd Downloads
- sudo dpkg -i File name.deb
- sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb
Why do we want Chrome with Chromium?
That is what I say…
Is there a difference?
WARNING: When installing google-chrome, any user will have access to any site do web address, even if it is blocked in the file «/ etc / hosts»
Likewise, without flash installed, it is included in the browser, so the garbage of its activities can be left there.
Greetings community
In Ubuntu there is no Gdebi but you can install the package by opening the .deb file with the Software Center
I have a problem, I am new to this and I really don't know what happens, I already installed google chrome on my debian wheezy but I can't find it anywhere, it is not found on "Internet" within applications, and I really don't know how I could tell if it really works or not, could you help me with this?
it is useless ... much easier if you give the direct command lines for the terminal .. without so much spiel
It does not appear to me to download 32 bits only 64 and that my system is 32, some solution
chrome no longer works for 32bits
I try to do it with the terminal and it throws me at the end enter pasword and when I try to enter the keys they do not mark anything
Thanks a lot!! I was able to do it with no problem!
