One of the most popular linux distros, it is without a doubt Fedora. the Linux distribution based on RPM and backed by Red Hat, is one of the ones that offers us the highest quality on the market, their ideology of modifying the source code instead of performing patches to solve problems has led them to be at the highest in terms of quality in Linux operating systems refers.
One of the things that the installer does not do as standard Fedora 17 and previous versions, is that although we select by default for the installation of the system the language Spanish, this does not activate after installation, that is why I have decided to do this simple basic tutorial to show you how to put it completely in Spanish.
To achieve this, after the installation of the operating system, and once fully rebooted and updated, we will do the following steps:
First update the distro completely
The first of all will be to update the list of repositories:
sudo yum update
Followed by a full update:
sudo yum upgrade
Now we can close the terminal and go to the system setting to select the Spanish language.
How to set the Spanish language for the whole system
How this distro leads gnome-shell By default, to open the system configuration, we will go to the upper left corner, we will type settings and we will press Enter, with this we will open the configuration menu of Fedora 17:
Now we will select Regions and Languages and we will configure it as follows:
- Languages ——– Spanish
- Formats ———– Spanish
- Layouts ———— Spanish
- System ————- Spanish
Once all the options have been selected, we will restart the system and in the window that appears we will select the option of Change all names.
With this we will have the entire system of Fedora 17 completely in Spanish.

Hey.
In Fedora when I want to update what I do is "yum update" and that's it, it is updated I have never put "yum upgrade". Necessary?
A greeting.
It seems to me that it is not necessary, that simply with the update there is enough.
That is the customs of being an Ubuntu user.
It already seemed to me. I have also been an Ubuntu user for many years and there are certain things that are difficult to change. 😀
With the upgrade option delete the obsolete
You won't go to bed one day without knowing one more thing, thank you.

Try it and you will see how it works for you.
