Install the Aircrack suite on Ubuntu

Aircrack

Aircrack is a wireless network security test suite that has a set of tools that work together with which we can evaluate the security of a Wifi network, we use this suite under the command line.

Aircrack allows us to perform audits due to the large number of tools it uses. I should mention that within the chipsets that work perfectly with aircrack are the Ralink. So if you want to perform pentest tests with the help of this suite You must make sure that your Wifi card supports monitor mode.

Surely you are wondering what is monitor mode? Well, you activate the monitor mode so that your Wifi card enters a single function, normally this is to be in a mode (listening and speaking) with a server (sending and receiving packets), but how much do you activate the monitor mode in this only is dedicated to listening (receiving packages).

Within the tools that we find within the Aircrack suite are:

  • airbase-ng
  • Aircrack-ng
  • airdecap-ng
  • airdecloak-ng
  • airdriver-ng
  • airplay-ng
  • airmon-ng
  • airodump-ng
  • airolib-ng
  • airserv-ng
  • airtun-ng
  • eastside-ng
  • packetforge-ng
  • tkiptun-ng
  • wesside-ng
  • airdecloak-ng

With them we can perform various activities such as monitoring the packets it captures, it has another function such as attacks with which we can de-authenticate connected clients, create fake access points and others through packet injection.

Aircrack works mainly Linux, but also Windows, OS X, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Solaris and even eComStation 2.

How to install Aircrack on Ubuntu?

We can install the Aircrack suite on our system from the official Ubuntu repositories, this method is also valid for its derivatives.

For this we must open a terminal and execute the following command:

sudo apt install aircrack-ng

Once the process is finished, it only remains for you to start with your tool tests, I can recommend you the following link where you can know some of the wireless cards compatible with this tool where you can find from the most sophisticated to some that are perfect for your home tests.
