Ubuntu has many options for music lovers. We even have a Spotify client to use this unlimited music service on our computer. However, the most veteran will want solutions similar to old programs like the veteran Winamp. It is true that this program was oriented to the Windows environment, but we can have a similar and more updated solution in our Ubuntu 17.04.
For this we will use the program hmmp, a program that offers the same experience as Winamp but that we can install in Ubuntu 17.04 or earlier versions.
Qmmp will allow us to have Winamp on Ubuntu, with hardly any customization
Qmmp is a program written in C ++ and Qt that offers simplicity and an interface similar to Wiamp, to the point that the program is compatible with the skins or skins of Winamp. However, this program is not in its latest version on Ubuntu 17.04. If we don't care, we can go to the Software Center and find the program to install. But, to install the latest version of this program in our Ubuntu 17.04 we have to open the terminal and write the following:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:forkotov02/ppa sudo apt update && sudo apt install qmmp qmmp-plugin-pack
After this, Ubuntu will install the Qmmp program in its latest version as well as a pack of plugins that significantly improve the use of this program, since it not only offers new skins for the program but also includes some add-ons such as connection with other online services such as Last.fm, Youtube or song lyrics services. In the official website of the program we can find more plugins and accessories to fully customize this program, as we did in Winamp.
Qmmp is a very complete minimalist player, although as we have said, in Ubuntu there are very good light and minimalist options, but none is so similar to the mythical Winamp program that entertained so many for hours in front of the computer.
