Install the second maintenance version of Kernel 4.13.2

A few weeks after being released the new version of Linux Kernel 4.13, we already have among us the second maintenance version which includes initial Cannonlake support, AMD Raven Ridge support, among others, you can read this article where the changes are described.

In this new maintenance release 4.13.2 we found the AmdGPU and Nvidia driver update as well as its bug fixes, network fixes, most of them to various drivers.

In the tool debugging xfs_io fixed a problem, since it did not require elevated privileges. Another important fix is ​​in the Bluetooth and BTUSB module since in some cases it tended to have certain problems when suspending.

How to install Kernel 4.13.2 on Ubuntu 17.04 and derivatives?

In order to install the new version of the Kernel in our system, it will be necessary to open a terminal (Ctrl + T), the first step will be to verify which version we have installed in the system, we execute the following command:

uname -r

It should return some response similar to this:

4.xx.xx.

If you want to know what architecture your team has with the following command you will know:

uname -m

Here the answer, depending on the case, will be different but it is something like this:

x86_64 o i686

Having this data, you will know what kind of Kernel you are going to install if for 32 (i686) bits or 64 (x86_64) bits. Already identified because it is only to install the correct package.

How to uninstall Kernel 4.13?

To remove Kernel 4.13, we just need to type the following command:
