How to install Wine 2 on Ubuntu

Wine 2

A few days ago, version 2 of Wine, the famous program emulator for Gnu / Linux, was released. This Wine 2 is loaded with many new features, including support for Office 2013 and Direct 3D libraries.

Usually a user uses Wine to run programs created for Windows on other operating systems like Ubuntu without having to use virtual machines. The new version will make it possible for us to install Office 2013 on our Ubuntu, if we really want to and we don't like LibreOffice.

Wine 2 will allow us to have Access 2013 in our Ubuntu without compatibility problems

Wine 2 comes with more improvements in terms of program compatibility, improvements that will make it possible for us to play World Of Warcraft or other games without having to depend on Windows. But also it will allow us to use retina screens without having configuration problems or Mac programs created for retina displays.

Its installation in Ubuntu is very simple. In this case we will do it through an external repository and of course, thanks to a terminal. So we open the terminal and write the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
sudo apt update
sudo apt install winehq-devel

After this, the installation of Wine 2 will begin, but a version that despite being stable, contains some bugs or may have bugs not found. There is another version of Wine that is more stable but does not currently have support for Office 2013, the installation of this version is also done through the terminal and can be done by typing the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine-staging

As you can see, the repository is the same but the version of Wine that we use is very different. In any case, it seems that there is no excuse to use Ubuntu Do not you think?

I am having trouble installing wine because of the ppa. When I add the lines in the terminal for the ppa, absolutely nothing happens and if I hit Ctrl C I get several Python errors.
