Insync 3 beta adds support for OneDrive on Linux

OneDrive on Linux with Insync 3

Google has become on its own merits one of the options that users choose to synchronize our different devices. Apple has iCloud, which allows us to synchronize tablets, mobiles, computers and even the set-top box, clock and speakers, but we have to have devices from Cupertino. The rest of us mortals have to use other options such as Google or Microsoft. OneDrive is used less than Google services and that is the reason why it would have taken so long to reach an application, more specifically insync 3 beta.

Many Linux operating systems allow us to add Google accounts from their settings, but the same does not happen with the Microsoft solution. If we want to use OneDrive on Linux we have to look for life a bit and use software like Insync, who will make the jump from version v1.5 to v3, probably because adding integration with OneDrive is a huge change. The downside is that, although it is a good tool, it is not free.

Insync 3 beta now available to test

The official launch of Insync 3 will occur later this year, but can now be tested by downloading the software from this link. It is also available for macOS and Windows and on all platforms it comes with a new synchronization engine built in Python 3. The new engine allows new functions, such as:

  • Faster synchronization.
  • Simplified settings.
  • Revamped user interface.
  • Separate synced folders.
  • 64-bit versions on macOS and Linux.
  • The headless build and the command line interface.

Those interested in trying it have to bear in mind that very important changes have been introduced and that is still in the testing phase, so it is expected to have bugs. On the other hand, there are functions that have not yet been included, such as the progress bar, change the default path, pause / resume synchronization, document conversion or keyboard shortcuts.

Are you a OneDrive user and excited about the launch of insync 3 beta?
