Developer Elvis Angelaccion has recently announced the general availability of a new package that allows fans of the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment to access their Google Drive accounts. without having to resort to any complicated method.
Therefore, the KDE Plasma 5 desktops will now have native Google Drive integration, but keep in mind that this implementation is only possible if you have the kaccounts-provider 17.04 and kio-gdrive 1.2 packages which are included in the KDE Applications 17.04 software package.
How to enable Google Drive support in the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment
If you are using a GNU / Linux distribution that brings the latest versions KDE Plasma 5.9 and KDE Applications 17.04, it is extremely easy to enable support for Google Drive.
The first thing to do is have the following packages installed: kaccounts-provider 17.04 and kio-gdrive 1.2 Beta. After installation, open the System Configuration panel and access the Online Accounts module.
Click on the "Google" button and add your Google account. This is all you have to do to benefit from access to Google Drive and shortly after adding your account you will see a notification informing you that you can now manage Drive files either through the Dolphin file manager or from the Plasma Folder View applet.
Of course, it is also possible to disable the Google Drive integration if you are not interested in this service. To do this, simply open the Online Accounts module in the System Settings panel and uncheck the “Drive” option, as you can see in the screenshot above.
