This is why many users consider it a good minimalist file manager for Gnu / Linux.

Download JumpFm

The easiest way to have this file manager in our Ubuntu system, will be download the .AppImage file. We will be able to download this file from the releases page of the project that we will find in GitHub.

execute permissions for JumpFm

Once the file is downloaded, we will only have give you execute permissions, to «allow to run the file as a program«. This will show us on the screen the option to add the icon to our system. If we select the option "No", we will have to execute the file every time we want to use it.

JumpFm installation

Perhaps the only black point that we can find in JumpFm is that it will not list more than 100 files and folders. This would not be a problem if you included some form of pagination, but unfortunately this option is not included yet. To make up for this lack, yes we may increase the file limit using the config file from the file manager.

All configuration files are in the directory ~ / .jumpfm. We will be able to edit the configuration files to create our own version adapted to our needs. We can also safely delete the configuration folder and restart JumpFm to restore the default configuration.

JumpFm configuration files

Bottom line, if you don't find the limit when listing files to be a problem, JumpFm is a file manager worth trying. If you need more information about this program, about its use or about keyboard shortcuts, with which to move and work, you can consult the project website.
