KDE 5 Service Menu ReImage: edit images directly from Dolphin

KDE 5 Service Menu ReImage

Sometimes we want to convert several images and we want the changes to apply to all of them equally. For example, it is recommended that blog images, such as Ubunlog, all have a maximum width, and that width does not match, or come close to, the size of a full screenshot. If we want to convert several images to another format, change their size, rotate them, etc., we can always pull terminal, but there are much more complete options that we can use directly from the file explorer. That is what we will get if we use the plugin KDE 5 Service Menu ReImage.

It is a tool that is integrated into the Dolphin / Konkeror menu that appears when you secondary (right) click on one or more images. As soon as you install it, the new options will appear, among which are resizing one or more images and many more options that we will detail after the cut. It also has its weak point, but it is nothing serious and, once we get used to it, we will not even remember.

KDE 5 Service Menu ReImage is installed in Dolphin "Actions"

What we can do with KDE 5 Service Menu ReImage is:

  • Optimize for web.
  • Compress in different amounts per hundred (and custom).
  • Resize in different per cent (and custom) numbers.
  • Convert to different formats, including PDF and "favicons".
  • Rotate.
  • Flip.
  • Add all kinds of information (metadata) to it.
  • Create GIF.
  • Add to the right.
  • Convert to black and white or sepia.
  • Change the transparent to a color.
  • Add a border (colored or transparent) to it.
  • Add a shadow to it (PNG only).

Its installation is very simple. Just go to this website, download your DEB package and install it with Discover.

The little weak point is that it's in english but, as I said at the beginning of this post, it is a lesser evil for a Dolphin plugin that can save us a lot of time. It is clear that for one image, many of the options are not necessary, but converting two or more does save time and health. Have you tried KDE 5 Service Menu ReImage and like it as much as I do?
