KDE Applications 20.04.1 Now Available to Start Fixing April 2020 App Set Bugs

KDE Applications 20.04.1

As expected, the project that takes care of one of the best graphical environments for Linux and other quality software has launched a few moments ago KDE Applications 20.04.1. This is the first maintenance update in a series whose first installment landed last month, in April 2020, and as such it has come mainly to fix bugs in the KDE application set, among which we have Kdenlive, Gwenview or Spectacle.

As usual, the KDE Community has published several posts about this release: in one they tell us about the availability of the new update from the set of apps; in the other it is where they provide us with the code, but they do not mention the total number of changes. No new features have been included, beyond small tweaks, some in the interface, which will improve the user experience when using the KDE Community applications.

Some changes coming to KDE Applications 20.04.1

  • Dolphin no longer triggers a bunch of useless "Browsing ..." messages when connecting to remote servers.
  • Resolving DNS hostnames for Samba servers is now much faster.
  • Moving or copying files to a remote SFTP location no longer adds ".part" to the end of the file.
  • In Elisa, clicking the "Show Details" button for a song now works the second time you do it.

That KDE Applications 20.04.1 has been released means that It is now available, but only in code form. In the next few hours some of them will arrive at Flatub y Snapcraft, but to be able to see all the updates in Discover we will still have to wait a few hours or maybe another month until KDE Applications 20.04.2 is released. We must not forget that in order to use the KDE software as soon as it is available we have to have its Backports repository added or use an operating system with special repositories like KDE neon.
