Many years ago, when I started using Ubuntu, I liked to tweak things more and I used to activate the jelly or the famous cube effects to switch between desktops. That cube effect is also available as an extension in GNOME 3.x, and it seems that KDE He has been jealous and is preparing changes for the future. One of them is what we see in the header capture, one of the ways in which the open windows will be presented.
The article of this week in KDE it's called "Samba Printer Browsing and More", which I don't think defines very well the best changes that have come before us today. Although the truth is that this Samba is a new function, and the Flip Switch and Cover Switch it is an aesthetic improvement; that would explain it. In any case, KDE does not stop (at all) not even at Christmas, and these are the future news that they have published today.
Bug fixes and performance improvements coming to KDE
- Yakuake window now appears faster (Jan Blackquill, Yakuake 21.12.1/XNUMX/XNUMX).
- In the Plasma Wayland session, Yakuake no longer appears below a top panel (Tranter Madi, Yakuake 22.04).
- The Partition Manager no longer keeps asking for authentication over and over again if the authentication prompt is canceled, and instead displays a friendly message stating what the problem is and that it can now be fixed (Alessio Bonfiglio, KDE Partition Manager 22.04).

- System Preferences pages that require authentication when pressing the "Apply" button no longer show cut-out half text under their name when using the sidebar mode by default (Nate Graham, Plasma 5.24).
- The new context menu item "Set as wallpaper" now only changes the desktop wallpapers of the current Activity, not all of the Activities (Fushan Wen, Plasma 5.24).
- The link modifying UI in the properties dialog now displays the correct information in the correct places (someone with the pseudonym "Dark Templar", 5.90).
Improvements in the user's interface

- The "Open in Dolphin" item in the desktop context menu has been replaced by the default "Configure display settings" (Ezike Ebuka and Nate Graham, Plasma 5.24).

When will all this come
Plasma 5.23.5 will arrive on January 4, KDE Gear 21.12.1 two days later, on the 6th, and KDE Frameworks 5.90 two later, on the 8. We will be able to use Plasma 5.24 from February 8th. KDE Gear 22.04 has no scheduled date yet.
To enjoy all this as soon as possible we have to add the repository backports from KDE or use an operating system with special repositories like Kde neon or any distribution whose development model is Rolling Release, although the latter usually take a little longer than the KDE system.
