KDE recently announced the release and general availability of the monthly maintenance update for the KDE Frameworks collection, the latest version of which is 5.37.0.
KDE Frameworks 5.37.0 seems to be a major update compared to previous versions, as it adds a total of 119 changes throughout its different components and applications for KDE Plasma 5 desktop environments, including Plasma Framework, KWayland, KTextEditor, KIO, KCoreAddons, KConfig, KActivities, KArchive, KDeclarative, KDesignerPlugin, KHTML, KI18n, and the Breeze icons.
The biggest change included in this version are the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) for the KHTML engine, the support for ipv * .route-metric in NetworkManagerQt, New icon for Akregator, support for the Qt5Widgets build in Sonnet, in addition to support for the Pug and Jade syntax, among other things.
"KDE Frameworks is a collection of 70 extensions for Qt that provide a wide variety of required functions with very light license terms," today's announcement reads. "This release is part of a series of scheduled monthly updates that are intended to make improvements for developers in a simple and predictable way."
Coming soon to all GNU / Linux distributions
Apart from the KDE components and applications mentioned above, KDE Frameworks 5.37.0 also improves the following modules: KIdleTime, KInit, KNewStuff, KPackage Framework, KParts, KUnitConversion, KWallet Framework, KWidgetsAddons, KWindowSystem, KXMLGUI, NetworkManagerQt, Sonnet, CMake, and ThreadWeaver.
