Kdenlive 19.04.1 is here. And soon KDE Applications 19.04.1 to Kubuntu 19.04?

Kdenlive 19.04.1 on Flathub

KDE Community released KDE Applications 19.04 on the same day that Canonica released Ubuntu 19.04 and all of its official flavors. This meant that the new applications did not arrive in time to be included in Disco Dingo. And what is worse, since Canonical does not include new versions of applications, except to correct bugs, the v19.04 of the KDE applications will not officially reach the recently released version of Kubuntu. What has arrived today, three weeks after those launches, has been Kdenlive 19.04.1, the first maintenance update of the latest version of the famous video editor.

For all this, this article has two parts: the first is the Kdenlive update. Total 41 bugs fixed what do you have listed here (in English). Among these errors I would highlight that now you can search for effects from any tab and not only from the one we have selected or that an unexpected closure that occurred when closing a project with locked tracks has been corrected. On the other hand, some tasks have also been sped up.

The new version is available at AppImage from here and in a package Flatpak from here. The APT release is still on Kdenlive 18.12.3 and will probably stay that way until the first maintenance release of KDE Applications 19.04 is released. On the other hand, Kdenlive is not available as a Snap package, or not if what we want is a stable and / or updated version.

The second part to be covered in this post is about KDE Applications 19.04.1: I asked the KDE Community and they answered me two of their developers. One of them told me that KDE Applications 19.04 is not officially coming to Kubuntu 19.04, but it will if we add their Backports repository. What he also told me is that they will wait to release the first maintenance update of their application package, something that seems to have already started with the release of Kdenlive 19.04.1. Considering that they usually release a new version every month, everything seems to indicate that in about a week they will release KDE Applications 19.04.1 and that less than a week later it will be available in their Backports repository.

Once again we have to remember that to install this repository we have to use this command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

What is also important to mention is that an application package that is updated once a month may present more errors than one that is already more tested, so if you use the KDE Backports repository and install the next version of KDE Applications when it is available, you have to take this into account. I will install it as soon as it is available. And you?
