From what I have read in different media, something that is common when making important changes, the latest version of the KDE Community video editor did not like everyone equally. New users liked it better, but old users and "power users" do not share this feeling. And, reading the extensive list of news from Kdenlive 19.04.3We understand that a lot of fault (not all) is due to the bugs that were introduced in the version released in April 2019.
Kdenlive 19.04.3 was launched yesterday July 11 with the rest of KDE Applications 19.04.3. Like KDE applications, the latest version of the KDE Community video editor has reached the end of its life cycle (EOL, End Of Life) and yesterday's was the third update in the 19.04 series. Total 77 modifications have been made, the vast majority of them being error correction. 77 are many changes if we consider that it is the third maintenance update of Kdenlive v19.04, but from what it seems they are more than necessary.
Kdenlive 19.04.3 Highlights
- Cutting groups with compositions no longer unexpectedly closes in Kdenlive (this seems to be the most important change for the KDE Community, since it was added in the Highlights of KDE Applications 19.04.3).
- Fixed tool cursor when moving through a clip in the timeline.
- Now it is ensured that we do not put a video in the audio section.
- Improved main item when catching.
- Updated Appdata for release 19.04.3.
- Fixed overwriting a clip with speed change.
- Fixed keyframe corruption in an open project and dragging an effect to another clip.
- Fixed broken fade on speed change.
- Fixed timeline preview when fps is 25.
- Fixed an unexpected crash when deleting the last track.
- Fixed an unexpected crash when undoing composition deletion.
- When you undo a deletion, the item no longer appears as selected.
- No longer freezes when moving a clip entered in the previous commit.
- Now save and restore the rendering properties for the project correctly.
Kdenlive 19.04.3 is here available from the KDE Backports repository. Also available as flatpak package.
Kdenlive has loaded it, things that worked perfectly in past versions now do not work, the excellent speed effect (speed) has been removed instead of preventing it from working with negative numbers. The initial keyframe of the effects is now fixed, it can no longer be moved ... honestly I was very involved in helping the kdenlive team on the issue of bugs and it has been a very frustrating experience to see that there is no talent to give practical solutions and that the ones that give even make things worse ... I ended up throwing in the towel and totally abandoning the project of writing and making video tutorials on this application, if in all the years they have been with they have not gotten a stable version, now I know from a good source that they have not They are going to get it and I say it because I have seen first hand how these people act. For what I am currently involved with the project that if it is postulated to be the true candidate to be the free and professional application for video editing that is Olive Video Editor. I could tell a thousand anecdotes about kdenlive, but they are not good and when I have seen that the development team takes criticism badly and worse giving logical solutions I have left this application behind, kdenlive has become my bet as a free and free video editor to be a very bad memory. And to fill the glass with a totally messy effects palette, version 18.12 is still far better than this new and stuffed version. Because this is the philosophy of kdenlive, if something gives problems, since we do not know how to solve it, we eliminate it.
