Kdenlive 19.08.1 now available in Flatpak version, arrives with a total of 18 changes

Kdenlive 19.08.1

On August 15, KDE Community released KDE Applications 19.08, the first version of this series of its applications that introduces important new features. The downside is that, to avoid problems, they don't usually upload new versions, not even to the Backports repository (yes, to KDE neon), until they have released a couple of maintenance versions. Not so in the Flatpak and Kdenlive 19.08.1 ya has arrived to the Flathub repository.

Personally, I was surprised that Kdenlive 19.08.1 did not arrive at Flathub on the same day as the launch of the KDE Applications 19.08.1, or a day later at the most. The KDE application suite v19.08.1 was released on September 5, so it was surprising that two weeks later we still didn't have Flatpak version, at least, the video editor that many users like the most for its versatility and possibilities. But the wait is over.

What's new in Kdenlive 19.08.1

  • When using the resize effect on a video clip, Ctrl + resize always keeps the image centered.
  • Fix the custom audio effects that were broken.
  • The speed encoder in the render panel works again, allowing us to choose between the slowest, medium, fast or ultra-fast.
  • Fixes disabling a clip only disables part of the audio in an AV clip.
  • Fix the size of the breakout timeline.
  • Fixed timeline keyboard focus at startup and capture not ending properly.
  • Default effects for video.
  • Fix disabling autoscroll.
  • Convert the old custom effects to new custom audio / video names.
  • Fix to the problem where moving in a group could move a clip too far from the expected area.
  • The effect of resizing on the monitor maintains the aspect ratio.
  • Updated the appdata version.
  • Fixed composition / effects list filter working on untranslated strings.
  • Fix custom effects not recognized as audio.
  • Encoder speed ignored has been fixed.
  • Late update of appdata version.
  • Now we can use the readable and translatable name of the parameter instead of its formal name for the color edit widget.

Also available in AppImage

Kdenlive 19.08.1 is also available now at AppImage from this link. What was also surprising is that the Windows version had also been available for a week, so I am inclined to think that there was a bug that they had to fix in the Linux version.

If you are using the versions of the repositories, say that it is likely that Kdenlive 19.08.x will not reach the Backport PPA until the next version is released, already in October. In the case of the official Ubuntu repositories, the new version will not arrive before the release of Eoan Ermine which is scheduled for October 17.
