Kdenlive returns to the Snap Store. Now available in Snap, Flatpak and AppImage

Kdenlive in snap version

The KDE video editor has been in the official Ubuntu repositories for a long time. Later versions were released in all kinds of packages, such as the AppImage that is the first to be updated, the Flatpak that is updated shortly after but we can make it appear in the software centers and in the Snap version, although they abandoned support until the maintainers were available. That moment has already come and we have again Kdenlive available as Snap.

At the time of writing this article still there has been no statement, neither in social networks nor in any other medium. It should be KDE Community who announces it, but if we enter their website right now and access the "Snap" section, what we will see will be an image like the one below these lines that says "Snap support has been removed until maintainers are available«.

Kdenlive also available in Canonical type of packages

Kdenlve Snap Pack Unavailable Message

So it seems from the message of the official website And which is yet to appear in the software centers (at least on Discover), the Kdenlive snap package has only recently been available. Where we can see it is in the Snap Store and we can also install it as we would install any other snap with the following command:

sudo snap install kdenlive

Regarding the available version, most of the available snap packages have been well up to date for a long time. Mozilla already delivers the same day of launch the new versions of Firefox and KDE Community could not be less, so what we can download and install right now is Kdenlive 19.08.2, October 2019 release from the famous video editor. But if you were to ask me which version I keep, right now I take the Flatpak. The one in the snap package gives me problems at the time of processing the videos (it is "waiting"), so I will say that of "my joy in a well" and I will continue using the version of Flathub that is also in Spanish, it emits the Same ugly sound when processing the video and finishing it and it is always well up to date. Maybe for Kdenlive 19.08.3/XNUMX/XNUMX I will change my mind.
