By pressing (Fn+) F11, Firefox will enter full screen mode, which means that its window will overlap the top and bottom bars, whether or not we have them configured to hide automatically, it will also hide the URL bar and absolutely everything. , except what interests us. But Firefox 71 will go even further with a new option called Kiosk Mode.
At first, the Kiosk Mode or kiosk mode seems the same as what we get through the F11 key, but it is not. If we activate it once within Firefox, when we move the cursor over the top of the screen we will see that the address bar appears, although the favorites bar still does not appear even though we have it configured to be displayed. The Kiosk mode has designed for tasks in which we do not want to see anything other than the page we are working on.
Kiosk mode is activated from the terminal
When we want to launch Firefox, we usually do it from the applications menu, from a launcher in the dock / bar, or from a shortcut anywhere else. To launch Firefox directly in kiosk mode we have to do it from the terminal by typing the following:
firefox --kiosk
If we use this kiosk mode, it is important to know some shortcuts, such as Alt + Right Arrow / Left Arrow to go page back / forward or Ctrl + J to bring up a search box.
