Personally, I don't like to load the PCs on which I install Linux a lot, but I know that not all of you think the same as I do. I'm talking about this loading a system because, as in everything related to Linux, we can use Animated wallpapers or that offer Parallax effect on a PC with Ubuntu, something that we will achieve thanks to Komorebi, an application that, as you will see, is still interesting.
Abraham Masri has created an application that will allow us to use moving funds on Linux. Initially, the developer created Komorebi to be used in KedOS, but it works perfectly in Ubuntu and other distributions based on the operating system developed by Canonical. Komorebi offers fully customizable backgrounds that can be modified at any time. And the best thing is that it includes several funds as soon as the installation is done, among which there are some with Parallax effect that will react to the movement of the pointer.
Komorebi allows us to enjoy the Parallax effect in Ubuntu
Among what Komorebi can do, we have:
- Show static backgrounds.
- Show date and time.
- Show simple system information, including RAM or CPU usage.
- Animations over time.
- Responds to mouse movement.
- Support for custom creations.
To install this interesting application, all you have to do is:
- Let's go to the GitHub page of the project.
- We download the package .deb (32-bit o 64-bit) of the software.
- We execute the package .deb (double click) downloaded in step 2.
- We install the software with our installer.
Keep in mind that Komorebi is a program or application. What does this mean? Well, it will be running all the time until we close it. As soon as you open the application, the wallpaper will change; to use the default desktop again, we will have to press Alt + F2 and type "killal komorebi" without the quotes in a terminal.
Other things to keep in mind:
- We will not be able to access or create shortcuts, files or folders on the desktop when using the software.
- Animated backgrounds use more resources than a still image, so the system could slow down if we use the software on modest computers. This is one of the reasons why I comment that I do not like to "load" my computers.
What do you think of Komorebi?
beautiful, not a necessary thing for daily work but it adorns the KDE desktop very well
Hello, the truth is that I really liked this blog, keep up the good work.
