In case someone still does not know her, say that Ksnip is a free and open source Qt5 screenshot tool, about which we already talked before in this blog. This runs on Gnu / Linux (X11, Plasma Wayland, GNOME Wayland and xdg-desktop-portal Wayland), Windows and macOS.

As in previous versions, this tool It will allow users to take screenshots of a rectangular area, full screen, current screen and active window, in addition to offering support for taking annotations. In addition, it will allow us to use tools such as the line, the rectangle, ellipse, the arrow, the pen, text, text with an arrow, automatic numbers and stickers, as well as the ability to scale or crop the screenshot after it has been taken. .

The most important change in this update is the ability to add new user-defined actions for taking screenshots and post-processing. From the application settings → Actions, we will be able to establish a keyboard shortcut and the actions that must be performed when pressing it (take a screenshot, show or not the mouse cursor, delay, copy the image to the clipboard, hide the main window and more).

The latest version published today, which is 1.9.0, can be download as a .DEB package from the project releases page on GitHub. We can also download this version of the program by opening a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and using wget as follows:

Once the download is finished, we can install this package with the following command:

If dependency issues appear during installation, it can be solved using another command in the same terminal:

install program dependencies

After installation we can find the program launcher on our team to start the program.

ksnip we can also download it as an AppImage file from the releases page, which should work on any Gnu / Linux distribution. This file, in its version 1.9.0, can also be downloaded using the following command in the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T):
